Description

Saint Dionysios is the patron saint of the island, the church of whom is the biggest that exists in the city. The building of temple started in 1925 and finished in 1948. Observing the belfry, we will find a lot of resemblances with the belfry of the church Saint Markos in Venice. The church hosts the relics of the Saint, and apart from an attraction for the locals, it is also considered a great attraction for the visitors.

The church hosts remarkable pieces of art, the most important of those being the icons on the temple which are silver-invested. The most important and most precious work of art in the church, is the silver-gillted Reliquary that hosts the holy corps of the Saint, created by Gregorios Diamadis Bafas in 1829.
