Lindos

Lindos is located in the southeastern part of the island, about 50 kilometers from the city. The traditional settlement with whitewashed houses, mansions and churches is amphitheatrically built on the rock. The scenic narrow alleys, the beautiful beaches, the magnificent view of the sea, but especially the Lindos Acropolis, which dominates the top of the cliff, have made it a popular tourist destination.

In antiquity Lindos has been a powerful city with a rich naval tradition. It was the birthplace of Kleovoulos, one of the seven wise men and Haris, the sculptor of the famous Colossus of Rhodes, the huge bronze statue of God the Sun, protector of the island.
