The cave of White Stone

The cave of Aspri Petra, aged 140-100 million years, is situated at an altitude of 257 meters southwest of the island, on the mountain of Ziní in Kefalos. It was excavated by Alessandro Della Seta, Director of the Italian Archaeological School of Athens and archaeologist Doro Levi 1922.

Inside it human fossils were found along with many pots of various shapes and dimensions. The remains of the food found in the cave reveal that people were dedicated to pastoral life. The presence of holes, filled with egg-shaped millstones, is remarkable.
